How to Search Newspapers and Press clippings
The NUS Libraries subscribes to many newspapers in different formats, online, print and microform.
E-Newspapers
- View electronic newspapers from the Library portal > E-Resources > E-Newspapers
- Click on LOGIN at the top left hand corner.
- Under E-Resources, click E-Newspapers to access electronic newspapers subscribed by the NUS Libraries.
Major sources of E-Newspapers :
Factiva (Guide on How to search Factiva)
Use Factiva if you need to browse current 2 weeks for selected newspapers, like The Straits Times and Business Times.
LexisNexis Academic
Please note that online sources give only the full text without photographs, charts or advertisements. The majority of articles are available like in the print copy, with the exception of articles reproduced from other news agencies like Associated Press, Bloomberg, Reuters and articles by independent writers.
Print Newspapers
The current issues of the print copy of Singapore newspapers are available in the NUS Libraries. Use LINC to search for the title you need. See LINC Help on Newspapers on Microform. Check Location and Latest Received. Only the current 1-3 months of the newspapers are kept.
Microform
The microform copy of selected newspapers are available in NUS Libraries. Use LINC to search for the title. See LINC Help on Newspapers on Microform.
NUS Libraries has Singapore newspapers like The Straits Times, Business Times, The New Paper, Lianhe Zaobao, Berita Harian, Tamil Murasu on microform. Selected historical newspapers for Singapore and Malaya are also available.
Press Clippings
The Press Clippings collection contain newspaper articles from The Straits Times and Business Times. The clippings have been indexed and arranged by Broad Subjects for easy referral. It is located in the Singapore-Malaysia Collection on Level 5 of the Central Library.
