How to Search LINC for NUS Theses
Step 1
Go to LINC (Library INtegrated Catalogue) http://linc.nus.edu.sg/search~/
Step 2
Under SEARCH special collection:, click on Theses Collection.
a) Search by Author / Title
- click on AUTHOR and type the name (surname first), e.g. Lee Hui Koon.
- click on TITLE and type the complete title or the beginning of the title,
e.g. Japanese market for Singapore tourism trends, prospects and policy implications
b) Search by Keyword Search
- In LINC, Click on Advanced Search
- Type in keywords, e.g.:

Doctoral theses (NUS) Tourism AND PH D AND NATIONAL UNIVERSITY OF SINGAPORE

Step 3 Getting the Item
Location
Status Action CL Books Available Available for loan. Use the call # to retrieve from open shelves. Use the self-checkout machines to borrow. HSSML Theses (Loans Desk) Use in Library Go to Hon Sui Sen Memorial Library Loans Desk to request and view thesis within library premises. CL Closed Stacks (Loans Desk 3) Request Item Click on the orange "Request" button at the top to request. Library staff will retrieve the thesis and library users will be notified by email when the thesis is ready for collection at the Loans Desk.

Note: 1) Many NUS theses (print) deposited in the Libraries are of post-graduate level (doctoral ; masters theses (by research) and masters theses (by coursework)). Others are academic exercises. 2) Not all theses submitted to NUS are in the Libraries' collection as some of them may not be released by departments to the Libraries. 3)Theses submitted solely in electronic format are not available due to copyright restrictions
2) Foreign theses (full-text in print format)
Theses submitted to foreign universities and obtained from UMI (University Microforms International) are usually kept in the Books collection or Closed Stacks. They are available for loan. NUS Libraries subscribe to ProQuest Dissertations and Theses which contains full-text with citations and abstracts of doctoral dissertations and master's theses submitted to over 1,000 North American graduate schools, European and Australian universities.
