InfoGate for Seamless Access

Ng Kok Koon ~ Head, Digital Services

InfoGate offers you a new gateway with integrated and seamless access to our electronic resources.

Search Multiple Resources
Through a single interface, you are able to perform a simultaneous search on resources subscribed by NUS Libraries like electronic databases, electronic journals and our library catalogue LINC.

Infogate

§ Free Text Search
Select a database category, type some keywords in the box next to Free Text and click on Search. InfoGate searches simultaneously the contents of the common fields like title, author, and subject from the selected databases. For multi-disciplinary topics, InfoGate is useful for a preliminary search to determine which databases would be the most useful. Next, search each relevant database directly to get in-depth results and to do special searches like citation reference search in Web of Science or to set limits in Biosis Previews.

§ Response Time
Expect a longer response time when using InfoGate as searching multiple databases is slower than searching just one database.

§ Search Results
There are limits set on the number of citations retrieved from each database and results are sorted by relevance as determined by the system. Hence you only view the “tip of the results iceberg” in InfoGate. You need to search the specific database to get the complete results.

Bridge to Full Text Articles
From a citation retrieved from InfoGate, the system analyzes the citation information and provides a link to the article for the full text subscribed by NUS Libraries.

Also from a specific database like Web of Science and Expanded Academic ASAP you have the icon to lead you to additional links for full text.

Give InfoGate a try and enjoy the seamless access to full text which will save you time and effort.
