  • Japanese Resources Dept merges with Chinese Library
    With effect from 1 October 2002, the Japanese Resources Department will merge with the Chinese Library to form one department. This is to streamline the manpower resources for the Japanese Resources Dept and Chinese Library.

    Mr. Lee Ching Seng will remain as Head of the Chinese Library and Mrs. Kim-Chew Ah Too will be appointed as the Deputy Head.

    The Japanese Collection will remain in its present location in Central Library 6th Floor, until its new premises are ready in Chinese Library early next year.

  • Special Collections Librarian
    Mr. Tim Yap Fuan has been appointed Senior Librarian (Special Collections) with effect from September 2002. Tim will be responsible for building up the already extensive materials in the Singapore/Malaysia Collection in Central Library, as well as to provide specialist reference and subject expertise on Singapore and Malaysia in particular and on Southeast Asia in general. He will also take charge of the Rare Book Collection and the Photograph Collection.

  • New Head for Reference & Information Services Dept
    Mrs. Lim-Yeo Pin Pin, Senior Librarian, has been appointed the Head of the Reference & Information Services Dept in Central Library with effect from 1 September 2002. Pin Pin is an experienced reference librarian, having been with RIS Dept since 1989 and acting for the Head since July 1999. She was also the first Webmaster of NUS Libraries and subsequently set up LION (Library Instruction ONLine). Pin Pin has been the editor of the library newsletter LINUS since 1989. For her active participation in the Library Association of Singapore (LAS) for many years, she was awarded the Outstanding Service Award by the Association in 2001. Pin Pin took over as head of the RIS Department from Mr Tim Yap Fuan. Pin Pin can be contacted at 6874-2030 or .
