Loh Mee Lan, Law Library
The CJ Koh Law Library (see front page article on its renaming to the C J Koh Law Library)
has been undergoing renovations since July 2000. Phase One of the renovation has been completed.
The entire basement was renovated and handed over to the Library on 1 November 2000.
We immediately began the task of shifting the offices and the library collections from the entrance level
to the new basement level.
The bulk of the materials, previously located on the entrance level, are now kept at the basement and
are divided into 3 major sections. The first section is located just outside the Reference Office.
This area consists of the Reference Collection (Ref Coll), Current Periodicals (Cur Per),
Bound Periodicals (Bound Per), International Law Collection (Int Law Coll), US Collection (US Coll),
ASEAN Collection (ASEAN Coll), Chinese Collection (Chinese Coll) and the Singapore/Malaysia Collection
(Sing/Mal Coll). The remaining sections are located at the far end of the Library and consist of the
UK Collection, Commonwealth Collection and Main Shelves. Please see the floor plan below for the
exact locations.
The Loan Counter, the RBR Collection and the Faculty Reading Room are still located on the
entrance floor. Please note that there will be no toilet facilities within the Library during this
period of renovation. The nearest Ladies toilet is located just outside the Library entrance while
the nearest Gents toilet is located at the furthest end of the passageway on the same level as the
Library entrance.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank you, our users, for your patience and understanding
during the period of the move. Some of you may have been particularly inconvenienced by the shifting
as it took place during the examination period. Your continued support and understanding during
the next phase of renovation is greatly appreciated.
